Happy 5th Birthday

The 5th birthday of the Farmersville Quilt Guild was celebrated at the June meeting. Of course, there was birthday cake, games, prizes and lots of fun for everyone. Some of the games that were played were a question asked after a bell was rung. The person who had the correct answer won a pin for an adorable pin cushion made by Pat. Each pin cushion was waiting by each seat at the table. Teams also raced to make a birthday "quilt" made from magazines and poster board. The word scramble was very tricky!

Joan started a short program that installed the new board for 2013-2015. A very big thank you to Joan, Karen, Becky and Carolyn for their service to the guild the last two years!
Welcome Bonnie, Jackie, Karen and Becky!

It has been a wonderful five years and in the last two years many things have happened to strengthen the guild and it's members. Some of these things are:

  • A get to know you dinner at Bonnie's home.
  • A loose leaf binder was started to hold patterns and ideas introduced at guild meetings.
  • Name tag holders.
  • Show and Tell was changed to Sew and Tell.
  • Singing happy birthday to members on their birthday month.
  • Participated in Doggie Days.
  • Continued at the Old Time Saturday Celebration.
  • Raffle quilts were started.
  • Junior membership began in 2012.
  • Spotlighting books and magazines from the guild library.
  • Block of the month program began.
  • Donated quilts to the Fire department fund raising raffle.
  • Donated quilts to the Hinton Home.
  • Donated quilts to the editor of the newspaper who lost her home to a fire.
  • Donated two Quilts of valor to veterans at the Audie Murphy Day Celebration.
  •  Established a sister guild connection with the Cherry Blossom Quilters in Zachary, LA.
  • Changed the guild board term of office to two years.
  • Joined the Texas Association of Quilt Guilds (TAQG).
