Guild Members bring in the most dreaded, buried, disliked or pain in the backside UFO (unfinished object/project)(even if it's just a block you tried and couldn't figure out),
Come prepared to share 2 things they are unhappy about or hard to do, and what drew them to the project in the first place.

Summary  UFO....what sparked interest and 2 things they dread or dislike

Purpose Hopefully someone else will either have already completed or possibly have a handy hint for doing it faster or easier

The Goal to have a UFO show and tell in May

OR
We can sign up in pairs to do the meals our self depending on how many sign up it could be 2-3 people per meal.
(we do this on another retreat I go on 2-3 times a year and it always works out so over the course of the weekend everyone will have a meal prep and a cleanup detail)
We can work on the food details, but what we need to know at this time who will be coming.

Kathy and I are already on the list so the first 14 to respond they are going are on the list, we can split the payment into 3 payments of 37.25 due at the March, April and May meetings, we have to be paid in full 30 days in advance.

New email from Lesa April 4th:
Hello Ladies,

If you are receiving this email then you are on the 2019 Retreat attendee list. YEAH!!

This is a friendly reminder to bring your payment for the retreat at the meeting Tuesday April 9th.

Just a reminder the retreat cost is 110.00 per person + a 30.00 food cost ( this is due 2 weeks prior to retreat time).

If you made the first payment of 37.00, then your second payment of the same is due next week.
If you weren't at the meeting or you left your check book at home please bring your first and second payment
totaling 74.00 to the meeting.
Thank you to those who paid in full.

Ok now to the fun stuff we have meals to plan, my experience in past retreats is that Brunch and dinner along with snacks is more than enough food.
My thought is that we need 3 people for Friday, 3 for Sat and 3 for Sunday for the meal planning and cooking, then the 5 others can work together to clean up after the evening meals.
We will buy breakfast foods, cereals, fruit and juices and everyone will be on their on for brunch, this will accommodate the early risers and those who like to sleep in can eat when they are ready. The 30.00 for food should cover the 3 evening meals and breakfast/brunch foods. Feel free to bring snacks for yourself and to share, along with drinks. Coffee and Tea will be supplied.

Tuesday I will have a sign up sheet for the 3 meals. please send you meal suggestions we will put together a list to vote on.

Looking for theme idea's or a group activity any thoughts?

More Later,
Lesa

Hey everyone, I just wanted to provide you with the attached flyer and link so you can get information about the Charity Race coming up on April 6th.
The Quilt Guild will have a vendor booth again this year where we will be selling raffle tickets and giving out information about Quilt of Valor.
The Charity has been a great supporter of our efforts.  It’s a great event to bring your family to.  There is no cost to register for and participate in the walk or the run.
All veterans receive a free BBQ lunch.  This year it will be located behind the Wylie High School on 544, and not in the city park.  If the weather is bad, they are moving it
All inside the school – so come regardless of the weather J
Please let me know if you have questions.

Hello Ladies,
It was great to hear from Sherry Worley regarding the upcoming TAQG Rally Day in July.  I have attached
Several Documents for you to be able to review at your leisure.  Sometime we have so much information
Provided at our meeting it’s hard to remember it all.

Rally Day location is at the Mimosa Lane Baptist Church in Mesquite on July 13th. Doors Open at 9 AM.

Rally Day admission ticket is $5.  (Please remember to bring your Guild membership card)
Raffle tickets are $1 or 6 for $5.  You can review the prize on the attachment.
Box lunch from McAlister’s is $10, there is a form that you need to fill out with your preferences.
(You will not have time to leave and return with lunch.  However you can bring a sack lunch to enjoy on the patio)
Rally Day Pin “Giraffe”  $5

There are 3 workshops that are being offered.  Attached are the forms and requirements for each workshop.
2 of the workshops are 1 day only  “The Woman” and “Whimsy of Wandering” and will be held at the Mimosa Lane Baptist Church in Mesquite.
The workshop for “Geraldine the Giraffe” will be a 2 day workshop and will be held at the Best Little Retreat Center in Texas.
Thanks,
Barb
May 1st is the date we start advertising workshops to people outside the TAQG member guilds.  We have already had some inquiries.  The workshops are doing well this year  Geraldine is over half full with only 8 spaces remaining.  Whimsy of Wandering is also over half full with 9 spaces remaining.  The Woman is at a lower enrollment, but I feel that it will pick up when the others are full.  Right now The Woman has only 6 signed up right now.  The following descriptions may help you to talk to your guild members about the workshops.

The Woman
This is a class suitable for all levels of quilters, or for someone just starting with thread painting/sketching.  You will have a pattern to transfer to follow for the thread sketching.  Pam used a part of an old tablecloth for her background and you can see some of the original embroidery.  You will complete the woman in class and get great suggestions for the background quilting.  Pam says "it will take your free motion quilting to new level."

Whimsy of Wandering
This is another thread sketching workshop that is suitable for all levels.  While it is similar to The Woman the fun starts when you color in the design with Intense pencils and some markers.  Pam will then teach how to make the colors permanent.

Geraldine
If you attended the Dallas Quilt Celebration this year you may have seen the Geraldine made by Wilma Moss in the Challenge Category.  Geraldine is a beauty!  I know she looks challenging, but this is another class for all levels of quilters.  Geraldine was inspired by photos Pam too while in Kenya.  In this class you will learn about values, texture, color, color balance and appliquilting.  Appliquilting is when you applique and quilt at the same time.  The thread sketching is securing the raw edge applique and adding details.

TAQG is proud to be able to offer these outstanding workshops.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Sherry Worley, TAQG Rally Day Chairman
