Warming Up At Old Time Saturday

The guild had another successful booth this year. Jackie was the chairman. Arriving early she  decorated and set up early with the help of Ann and her husband. Because of cold, wet weather the booth was wrapped on three sides with plastic and a plastic sheet protected the raffle quilt too. The booth was warm and cozy and the tickets sales were hot! Shifts of guild members manned the booth throughout the day and sold raffle tickets. It was a great sales day and the raffle tickets were almost gone. More tickets had to be ordered and we have only been selling for a week!

All The Colors Of September

Fall usually means lots of color. Leaves are turning orange, red and yellow. Pumpkins come out and pecans are being picked. We hear the crunch of leaves under our feet and the weather begins to cool. The guild brought out colors too.
Karen prepared a program on the Jinny Beyer color palette way of using color in quilts. Each of the members had a chance to make their own palette color wheel using small pieces of fabric. There were so many ways to combine colors! It was so much fun to see what would work together and how to add just the right "punch" to your quilts.

Community Service Quilt Time

This year's community service quilt meeting was changed to a Saturday. Besides the service quilts there was also a Sew and Tell time. Everyone brought snacks and there was fabric flying all around the room as members measured, cut fabric, cut batting and put the quilt sandwiches together. Over thirty quilts were done this year. That is almost double what we accomplished last year. This years quilts will go to Hinton Home in Farmersville. Many of the quilts were completed before the meeting by Joan, Pat, donna and Debi. Their help really made a difference. Those that came were able to take quilts home to tie or machine quilt later.

Below is a quick show of the quilts that were finished.

July Brings Debra Hager

The July meeting was held on July 10. Debra Hager came and taught the members how to do some fun raw edge applique. The project was quick and easy. Debra made a darling flower in a pot design just for us. Many of us know Debra from the Cranky Peddler sewing group. She is an expert in many areas of quilt techniques and history. Her creativity and cheerful personality made for a great meeting!
