March 2023 Wool Felting time' Calendar of upcoming events

Note from prez,

Good Morning!  Hope this email finds you all doing well and blessed with a wonderful day.

If you missed the Farmersville Quilt Guild meeting last night, you missed a lot.  I will try to do a recap here so that you know what was accomplished.

Announcements:

    • Audie Murphy Day will be Saturday, June 20th, activities to be announced soon.
    • The May program for the Guild is Collage Quilting by Ann Cardon.  You will need to bring your own floral fabric and heatnbond.
    • November QOV Presentation will be held at the Farmerville Campus of Collin College this year!  Program will begin at 6 p.m., more information to come.

New Business:

    • February meeting minutes had one correction, Sandy Fisher won a door prize from the National QOV Sew Day.
    • The updated ByLaws and Policy Manual was approved, updated documents are attached to this email.
    • Members present voted to give one (1) $1000 scholarship to a Farmersville High School senior.  President Wingo will contact the school to see if we can have this scholarship go to a student of the arts.
    • It was decided to leave the first Thursday and second Saturday sew days as they are now.  You will need to let JR (first Thursday) or Pat (second Saturday) know that you plan to attend.  This will allow them to make decision whether or not to open the building.  We don’t want them to put in all the work to bring projects, open the building and no one show up!
    • Old Time Saturday is October 7th this year.  Our committee, Sandy F, Regina M and Yvonne K will be discussing this and bringing back ideas to the members.  We could use one more person to serve on the committee.  If you want to volunteer contact President Kathy W or a member of the Executive Board.
    • We did approve having a table at the upcoming 1LT Robert Welch Race on April 22nd, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.  We will need volunteers to man the table during this time.  We will talk about Quilts of Valor, the Farmersville Quilt Guild and accept donations.  If you wish to help with this event contact President Wingo or a member of the Executive Board.
    • We had a number of beautiful show and tell projects.

Regina M gave a wonderful presentation on Felting.  She had a several beautiful pieces that she shared with us.  Thank you, Regina!

Our next meeting will be held on April 11th and we will be presenting the Slate of Officers and accepting nominations for the 2023-2024 Executive Board.  We will vote on these in May with installation being done in June.

Program will be 'Stack N Wack by Sandy F

Thank each of you for all you do on behalf of the Farmersville Quilt Guild.

Have a blessed day!

Kathy

President
