April 28th 2021

Ladies & Gentleman ,
Can you believe it's been almost 14 months since our last all together meeting. We have decided to try to do a show and tell meeting at the Onion Shed. (Weather permitting) We have reserved the pavilion and would love to have you join us for an evening of catching up and sharing what we have been working on during this long season of stay home and stay well. We will still be following along with some precautions just to keep everyone safe as we try to navigate what is safe and what everyone is ready for.
What we would like to do is meet May 11, 2021 from 6:30 to 8-8:30. We are encouraging you to bring your own chair, but there is some picnic tables for those who can't bring a chair. If you want a drink or snack please bring your own, we will not be doing any food or drinks for now. Of course, please bring your show and tell.
Please feel free to wear a mask, especially if we have a large turn out, while I really want to see all of you I want everyone to be and feel safe. If you aren't feeling well please stay home for your safety and for those that may have a compromised  immune system. I am vaccinated and I am still taking precautions, better safe than sorry.
This is the time of the year that we look at next years budget and new officers, we had a board zoom meeting and discussed where everyone is at and all the board has said they will stay on for the next year, unless someone has an objection, of course we will move forward with an election if needed.
Please let us know if you plan to attend?
Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Be Blessed,
Lesa

January- April 2021 QUARANTINING

Happy New Year to all,

I hope everyone is staying in and staying well. This virus doesn't seem to have any boundaries, So in saying this we are again pushing out any in person meetings for the unforeseen future. :-(
I am hoping by March we may be able to start having our Community Service days and hopefully by early summer it will be safe enough to meet in doors.
I was thinking maybe in April and/or May perhaps an outdoor meeting at the onion shed with a Show and Tell day. Maybe on a Saturday. Please let me know what your thoughts are.

On another note Janice and myself are getting ready to start our Sampler quilt and we had Ann and Marsha joining the challenge? Any other teams want to join, the only rule is there aren't any, pick your own pattern and a sewing sister and work together but apart. Janice and I are making our own quilt with the same pattern but out own fabric choices. Looking forward to seeing how different they will come out, come along and join the challenge.

Looking forward to hearing from you all and seeing you soon!!

Blessings,
Lesa

To All Our Sewing Friends,
I would like to start by wishing everyone a Safe and Merry Christmas as we continue to maneuver thru these difficult times that has put much of our world and lives on hold.
I pray that each of you are staying safe, as we find new ways  to stay safe and celebrate the holidays.
I would love to hear how each of you are doing and making new memories during these difficult days.
I usually have 20+ at my house for thanksgiving and even more on Christmas Eve, this year we didn't gather for Thanksgiving and we won't be gathering for Christmas Eve this year, which has been a very hard discussion to make, I will go to my daughters house for Christmas morning (we have been in each others bubble so to speak), but I will truly miss the rest of my family. I am hoping and praying that by following the CDC recommendations  that we all will have many more years to gather together.
If you have been working on projects during these unprecedented times, please take time to share with the guild so we can all continue to be inspired.
Janice Tower and myself are starting a project after the holidays that we will be doing together (virtually), We are doing a sampler quilt sewing a new block every other week.
I would like to challenge everyone to find a virtual sewing buddy or two, and work on a project together.
This will be so much fun doing the same quilt together, we are both making our own quilt but making the same quilt.
So here is my thought if you would like to join the challenge find a partner or two and decide on a pattern (sampler pattern would be fun). Keep your pattern a secret so once we are able to meet again or lets say at our Aug or Sept meeting, we will share our "Virtual Sewing Sister Quilts". (hopefully we will be back to meeting together again this coming Spring or Summer at the latest I am hoping)
Please let me know if you are going to participate in the challenge to make a sampler quilt of some sort either by yourself or with a buddy or 2, perhaps we can encourage each other to keep the challenge going, remember it's not a race it's a challenge to keep us connected and motivated in our craft.
I am looking forward to hearing back from all that want to participate.
On another note here is the latest update on the Feb QOV Sew Day, Please let Barb or Kathy know if you have any questions concerning the QOV Sew Day.

QOVF National Sew Day
Saturday, February 6, 2021
Live from FLA – It’s the National Sew Day V.1!
For many years, we have gathered to sew, have fun and make Quilts of Valor on the 1st Saturday of February. 2021 will be no different – well, it will be slightly different…
Member Groups, other groups who support our cause, quilt industry supporters and individuals throughout the US will meet sometime in 2021 to sew, have fun and make Quilts of Valor. Allison, Ginger and I will be hosting a live event on our traditional day – Saturday, February 6, 2021.
We will have surprise announcements, pre-recorded guests, pictures from last year’s NSD, and some special live guests throughout the day. We haven’t completed the agenda yet – look for it in mid-January. I can tell you that we will start the day at 0900 EST with the National Anthem in English and Spanish. A veteran friend recorded it especially for us! We Will immediately post everything we share in the audio/video meetings on Facebook.
At 4:00 pm EST, we will draw a member’s name. That member will receive a Janome 3160-QOV. Members can register on the link below!

March 10, 2021

Hi Guild Members,

We heard a call from Farmersville VFW #7426
that they really needed help. With Covid they have not been able to do any fundraising. But they need is still there. They help Veterans.

So we thought maybe we could make them a raffle quilt.
Becky Medlock a guild member passed a few yrs ago, her daughter gave me some of her UFO'S. There was a flag quilt started. So a few of us finished it. Lesa will quilt it next week. Pic attached.

They were thrilled with our gift of a quilt to raffle. They meet April 5th, at 7pm at VFV in Farmersville. And asked if we could come and present it to them. If you want to go text or email Karen. It won't take long. With Covid it's up to you, most of us are still following old rules.

So far Karen, Donna, Jackie are going.
