May Finishes Quilt-On-A-Stick

Last month's meeting introduced Quilts-On-A-Stick with the directions and the work of designing began. A fun finish marked the May meeting. Many of the members were able to complete these unique quilts during the meeting. It was wonderful to see all of the different ideas that were made in only a 10"x12" area! It will be a great show in October. Here's a peek of a few of the finished quilts from Bonnie, Sharon and two Donna's.

April Introduces the Quilts on a Stick

April's meeting was filled with so many inspiring ideas.
The program was centered around "Quilts - On - A - Stick". The Minnesota State Fair was the insirpration for the idea. A large show of these mini style quilts was shown in the Women's building last summer. These fun 10" x 12" quilts use large paint sticks for their support. When the sticks are placed into small sleeves on the backs of the quilts they can then be displayed for a show. The guild plans on having a Mini Quilt Show in conjunction with Old Time Saturday celebration held in October. These small quilts on a stick will be placed in little pails and will then decorate our booth at the celebration. Members used the meeting time to plan and begin their quilts.

At the beginning of the meeting the 2012 raffle quilt was drawn. Almost two thousand tickets were sold this year. The winning ticket was number 1645. The winner was a friend of Bonnie's from the Quilt Asylum! Many of us wanted to win that quilt. At least we know where we can find it.

Raffle Quilt chairman Ann gets ready to draw this years ticket.

Lucky Charms For March

The luck of the Irish came to the March meeting in the form of Charm squares. Members were asked to bring twenty charm squares to exchange later in the meeting. Karen told about the history of Charm quilts along with a few examples and patterns of these long favored designs. After her presentation we all gathered around a table to exchange the squares. Around and around we went drawing a square from each pile. At the end we each had a wonderful assortment of 5" squares.
