2011 August Lots of Tips and Tricks with a look at must have Tools
The following pictures are candid shots of guild members as they shared new tips and tricks. Some of those tips were:
Using small hair bands to hold bobbin thread in place.
Putting pins on the back of hand applique to keep from being stuck and catching thread as you sew.
Using medical forceps to hold or pull needles out.
Cutting out a cheater squares and appliqueing, can cover old business names on t-shirts.
Magnetic bowls for pins can be bought cheaper at Harbor Freight or other tool stores.
Oliso iron has a neat feature - pop up feet for no scorching.
Instructions for a great sewing machine matt for tools.
When you have a block that a point doesn't quite match you can take a permanent ink pen in a matching color and "draw" the point in.

July Program Changed
Debra couldn't come to the guild meeting because of a family emergency. After several phone calls it was decided to use an idea that had been suggested several times and never done. NAME TAGS!! Three guild members got together with some new fabric, donated batting and plastic and had a fun day sewing and talking. The end result was great.
Guild members were asked to bring trims, buttons or any other embellishments that they would like to share. At the meeting each person was given a basic name tag to embellish and personalize. A front pocket was designed to hold the guild membership card and a back pocket large enough for a pair of small scissors or other necessities. Ann brought handouts and taught how to make ruching that can be used as flowers. Everyone went to work and take a look at the results!
A big thank you to all those that helped make a great program.
Show and tell was another highlight to the July program.

Debra Hager, from the Cranky Treadler's, will present the program Quilts and their History at our Tuesday, July 12 meeting. During the meeting will see what the women of the past created. How did they get their inspiration and patterns? Come look, learn and hear the voices of past quilter's through their quilts.
