Guild Members note from Guild president:
Ladies & Gentleman ,
To All Our Sewing Friends,I would like to start by wishing everyone a Safe and Merry Christmas as we continue to maneuver thru these difficult times that has put much of our world and lives on hold.I pray that each of you are staying safe, as we find new ways to stay safe and celebrate the holidays.I would love to hear how each of you are doing and making new memories during these difficult days.I usually have 20+ at my house for thanksgiving and even more on Christmas Eve, this year we didn't gather for Thanksgiving and we won't be gathering for Christmas Eve this year, which has been a very hard discussion to make, I will go to my daughters house for Christmas morning (we have been in each others bubble so to speak), but I will truly miss the rest of my family. I am hoping and praying that by following the CDC recommendations that we all will have many more years to gather together. If you have been working on projects during these unprecedented times, please take time to share with the guild so we can all continue to be inspired.Janice Tower and myself are starting a project after the holidays that we will be doing together (virtually), We are doing a sampler quilt sewing a new block every other week.I would like to challenge everyone to find a virtual sewing buddy or two, and work on a project together. This will be so much fun doing the same quilt together, we are both making our own quilt but making the same quilt. So here is my thought if you would like to join the challenge find a partner or two and decide on a pattern (sampler pattern would be fun). Keep your pattern a secret so once we are able to meet again or lets say at our Aug or Sept meeting, we will share our "Virtual Sewing Sister Quilts". (hopefully we will be back to meeting together again this coming Spring or Summer at the latest I am hoping)Please let me know if you are going to participate in the challenge to make a sampler quilt of some sort either by yourself or with a buddy or 2, perhaps we can encourage each other to keep the challenge going, remember it's not a race it's a challenge to keep us connected and motivated in our craft.I am looking forward to hearing back from all that want to participate. On another note here is the latest update on the Feb QOV Sew Day, Please let Barb or Kathy know if you have any questions concerning the QOV Sew Day.QOVF National Sew DaySaturday, February 6, 2021Live from FLA – It’s the National Sew Day V.1!For many years, we have gathered to sew, have fun and make Quilts of Valor on the 1st Saturday of February. 2021 will be no different – well, it will be slightly different…Member Groups, other groups who support our cause, quilt industry supporters and individuals throughout the US will meet sometime in 2021 to sew, have fun and make Quilts of Valor. Hi Guild Members,
We heard a call from Farmersville VFW #7426
that they really needed help. With Covid they have not been able to do any fundraising. But they need is still there. They help Veterans.
So we thought maybe we could make them a raffle quilt.
Becky Medlock a guild member passed a few yrs ago, her daughter gave me some of her UFO'S. There was a flag quilt started. So a few of us finished it. Lesa will quilt it next week. Pic attached.
They were thrilled with our gift of a quilt to raffle. They meet April 5th, at 7pm at VFV in Farmersville. And asked if we could come and present it to them. If you want to go text or email Karen. It won't take long. With Covid it's up to you, most of us are still following old rules.
So far Karen, Donna, Jackie are going.
