August 2014 Christmas in August

Christmas in August was the theme for the meeting this month. The refreshment table was decorated with Santa's and Christmas stockings. Each member brought an easy Christmas gift idea to show. There are lots of great ideas to see so enjoy the pictures.
We also were able to give our Community Service quilts to the representatives of the Hinton Home. We made not only lap top quilts but summer quilts without batting too. All the members wore their guild shirts for the evening.

July 2014 Blue Jean Wind Socks

July is the month for fireworks, freedom and wind socks at the Farmersville Quilt Guild meeting.
Jackie showed us how to make these unique windsocks using left over blue jeans. They were simple and fun to do. We even saw a few with the 4th in mind.

June 2014 Happy Birthday FVQG!

Another wonderful year of sharing quilts and friendship in the Farmersville Quilt Guild. We are 5 years old! There was cake, friends and games. The perfect party!

2014 Audie Murphy Day

This year the guild made two Quilts of Valor to be presented. The first recipient was the Parade Marshall, Travis Shannon, who is a Farmersville employee and an Army veteran. The second recipient was 92 year old,  Eddie Meil who served in the Navy from 1941-1945 on the USS Tarazed (AF - 13). Eddie is from Rockwall and has been a member of the Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard since 2009.

March 2014 is TAQG - April Showered us In Jelly Rolls - May Featured Pebble Rehm

For May the blog editor was gone to see a new grand-baby. There are a few pictures and as I collect more I will post them.


Sherry Worley came and spoke to us about TAQG in March. She was able to explain all the ins and outs of the Texas Association of Quilt Guilds and the quilt show coming up in July. The show will feature Sue Nickels as the guest speaker and workshop. Sherry showed some of the "Nickel" quilts and members were able to work on making one. It looks like we will be ready to join in the excitement for the TAQG show! She also brought some fun mini quilts that are used to display the many pins that are collected by quilters.

The April was a rock'n jelly roll race. Everyone brought 2 1/2 inch strips from different fabrics and the race was on to see who could sew them into a lap top size quilt. We also had our raffle quilt drawing and our own Debi won the beautiful black and white quilt!

We sold tickets for the raffle quilt at Famers and Flees one Saturday. Can you tell it was cold and rainy?

May was a very exciting program. Pebble Rehm came with lots of beautiful quilts. We met in the Church of Christ annex for this meeting and the room was full of quilters and quilts.
